The Water Cure

Updated: Aug 19, 2019

The Water Cure held so many tantalizing twists and turns that my interest never wavered, and I couldn’t put it down. Meanwhile, however, my questions continued to mount, and I never seemed to find any clear answers. Is this a family or a cult? Is it both?

What is certain is that this is a family of survivalists but what exactly are they trying to survive? While the big picture of their lives and the world outside remains murky the details that are shared with the reader are disturbing.

Originally, I gave The Water Cure 3 out of 5 stars. Now, weeks later, my rating is a solid 4.5 stars because I still find myself considering the details and indulging in a lot of speculation about each character’s motivations. A book that occupies my thoughts for this long is both a rarity and a treasure. The Water Cure is the rare sort of novel that resonates so deeply that it is not easily forgotten. In fact, it demands careful consideration and discussion.
